Our Story

Hedgehog Consulting was established in 2009 in Wellington, New Zealand. Over the years we’ve helped many local and central government clients to improve services, implement changes, and to enable their people and teams.

Hedgehog Consulting is a management consulting company that provides business change, business improvement, and workforce development services to its clients in the public and private sectors.

We’re a New Zealand based company operating out of the capital city, Wellington. We work with clients large and small and have significant experience in the public sector. We have a reputation for building strong relationships, pragmatic advice, and our ability to deliver.

We help organisations to implement new policy and services, make changes, and teams. We specialise in business improvement methodology and workforce insight tools.
 

THE NAME

It’s probably no surprise the original inspiration came from a management book by Jim Collins, called Built to Last. The book talks about the hedgehog concept, and how successful companies simplify and focus their efforts.

It was a match with how our founding director wanted to focus the consulting services, and a great way to avoid being another acronym consulting company. So, the hedgehog was adopted as a point of distinction and focus.
 

FOUNDED

Hedgehog Consulting was first registered with the Companies Office April 2009 as Flying Hedgehog Consulting Ltd. Our trading name of Hedgehog Consulting was also registered at the time.
 

RE-BRANDED

The company re-branded as Hedgehog Consulting in 2014 . After a passage of time we better understood our clients, and a re-brand was undertaken as part of a service refresh.
